House of Coffee “Bait Al Qahwa” [ Bahrain ]
Architecture, Environmental Design, Interior Design
The House of Coffee “Bait Al Qahwa” was inaugurated on the 2nd of April 2009. It consists of three old houses combined and converted into a single project. The combination still maintains its original façade while the inside is contemporary. The glass roof of the walkway is awashed in running water falling to a pool in the courtyard. a The rationale of opening such building was to give the visitors the opportunity to meditate their senses while enjoying drinking a cup of coffee.
This café within the context of a traditional Bahraini home is as much about showcasing the tradition of Arabic coffee, as it is a place to relax and lounge after a day of sightseeing in the neighborhood, which has become a centre of restored classical and traditional Bahraini homes.
